Broadstairs is a coastal town on the Isle of Thanet in East Kent, England, 76 miles east of London, 20 miles from both Dover and Canterbury, with a population of about 24,000 (2001).
The town lies above a harbour with cliffs on either side. It has seven bays of golden sand. On the cliffs above Kingsgate Bay is Kingsgate Castle, once the home of Lord Holland, but now converted into private residences.
As a civil parish, it includes the St. Peter's area and is known as „Broadstairs and St. Peters.“ This was derived from the “broad stairs” carved in the chalk cliff, that led from the sands to the 12th century shrine of St. Mary situated above the cliffs.

A perfect day Wednesday, October 8th, 2008
School started at 9 o'clock. We went to our classrooms and the teachers came in.
After three hours, we had lunch break. Some of us went to "Sanchos", a fast food restaurant in High Street, and the others went to "Dicken's", a good restaurant near the beach.
After Lunch we met at Vere Road to take the bus to Canterbury. We rode about half an hour. A teacher from the Kent School of English went with us through Canterbury and showed us the sights. Afterwards, we had leisure time. Some of us went shopping, the others went to the famous Cathedral of Canterbury.
After about two hours, we rode back to Broadstairs. When we arrived at Broadstairs, we went to our host families and had dinner. At 8 pm, we went to the Pavillon in Habour Street, where the KSE disco took place. We danced a lot and had a lot of fun. At 10 pm the disco finished, but some of us did not want to go home. Our teachers took us home and we went to bed.
